Question Noob question - good budget headphone amp for Beyer DT770 pro 80ohms..

Hi guys, i'm a noob to decent headphones and after a lot of research i've choosen BeryerDynamic DT770 Pro 80ohms for my pc gaming needs from a internal Xi-Fi. I've also been lead to believe that i'll need a headphone amp to get the most out of them so i'm looking for something i can plug into my sound card and drive them so i get the most out of them. My problem herer is budget, as far as i can see everything is around£200-£400 for a decent headphone amp, however i'm sure you guys know better...

Want to spend under £100 really. Looking for something that will power these nicely without sacrificing too much...if i need them at all? Please help, much appreicated.

(BTW, i've read a load of the current threads so i've done a good bit of searching before posting)

I'd recommend the Project Headbox MkII (£75) as the best headphone amp in your price range. I'm using one at the moment to drive Sennheiser HD600s.

Saying that though, I wish I'd saved a bit more so I could stretch to the Creek OBH21 at about £150. Actually, I just checked your headphones and spending twice the price of your headphones on an amp is a bit silly, so I'd stick with the Headbox MkII. Superfi have a good price on them atm.

Just a word of warning about the headbox, a lot of people have slated it saying it makes little to no difference to sound quality. At the moment i use HD650's from a X-Fi and i can tell you the sound is extremely good already without an Amp. Personally unless you can justify spending ~£200 on a good quality amp like a graham slee then i wouldn't bother.

wow thanks guys, yes i'd rather get something that improved the sound if i'm spending the money on it, spending £75 on it for essentially nothing doesn't seem worth it.

I'll run it off the xifi then and see if it's adequate. Thank you a lot guys.
