In ear earphones for ipod classic

Hi,

So i just bought myself a new 120gb ipod classic but im wanting to get a bit more out of it with an upgrade of in ear headphones.

Not looking to spend more than £40 preferably.

I would prefer it if the ear phones had removable ear parts (the bits that go actually into the ear) so they can be washed. Also sound leakage must be kept to a minimum or non at all if possible. (as the gf doesn't want to hear my music all night )

Optionals are an in line remote either for volume or including track changing etc.
Also since the ipod headphone jack is on the top of the ipod it would be prefered if the headphone connector wasnt at a right angle although this isnt a massive issue.

The most important feature is obviously audio quality followed by the other things. I know this is a smallish budget to work on but im hoping you can suggest some ideas and opinions.

Ive seen a couple of the sennheisers (the cx300 and 500 series) but since i know nothing about headphone really i didnt know if these were any good or not and what else is out there in this kind of price range.

Thanks

Re: In ear headphones for ipod classic

Hi Luke,

just bought my second set of CX300s, the first pair lasted me about 2.5 years. Seeing as the cost less than £20 i am more than happy with that. I pulled on the cable to hard and broke them anyway.

I am very , very pleased with them. They do a good job of isolating outside noise, some people have complained of them being to bassy but i think they're just right.

I haven't heard of anything for the money that does a better job, as for up to £40 i can't help. But if you were spending £20 i strongly recommend the CX300.

Re: In ear headphones for ipod classic

How are they for sound leakage? As in the music being heard outside from the person listening to the headphones.
These were an option i looked at or the CX500's which are the next ones up.

Re: In ear headphones for ipod classic

I personally would reccomend the cx500. After reading around and looking up some reviews, they seem like the best in ear headphones for in your price range. Accoridng to cnet they are ''Pleasant earphones with great performance that are excellent iPod upgrades'' and are featured in an article titled ''Best headphones for under £60''
They also have an 'in-wire' volume control and come with different sized rubber tips. Seem to fit your needs perfectly and can be found for £30 ish if you shop around.

Hope this helps

Re: In ear headphones for ipod classic

Thanks for the advice. Does anyone also know anything about the cheaper denon earphones and how these measure up to the sennheisers?

Re: In ear headphones for ipod classic

Generally speaking you are looking to upgrade you basic ipod headphones, your budget limits you to entry level models from some reputable brands. However these are still a massive upgrade in sound quality. The conclusion from all the reviews i have read is that the Sennheisers offer better overall sound quality offering a smoother sound and greater detail and clarity. The Denon entry levek headphones are also much higher quality tha the ipod ones, however they sacrifice some quality for heavier/deeper bass levels. This means you loose some of the high end quality as the overall smoothness of the sound is weighted to lower frequencies. However by no means right them off as bad headphones, cnet states:

''But these preferences are purely subjective and the 351s are an excellent pair of earphones for little over £30. The ideal user is probably a dance music-loving gym goer, as the 351s' lightweight construction and great comfort make for easy use when you're on the jog.''
