I am thinking off getting either of these for my new Ipod Touch - don't really want buds/in ear phones - so wondered if anyone has any specific issues with these 2 models, or indeed alternatives worth considering??

I cannot speak for either of your choices. I use a pair of Sennheiser HD212pro can's with my ipod touch which sound fantastic
