Sennheiser CX 550 Style II

I got an iPod Touch 2g for Christmas & was hoping it would sound as good as the hype had made it out to be.

This is my first ever iPod & I know all about the fantastic stuff it can do.

But the most important aspect of an Mp3 player to me is the SQ. 1st & foremost.

So I transfered my music at 320kbps to the iPod & plugged in my Sony HPM-77's & was hoping for the Wow Factor but was disappointed. I plugged the sony's back in to my SE P1i mobile phone & was much happier.

I played with all the EQ setting's on the iPod but just couldn't find a setting to match the P1i.

Oh Dear I thought....

So I sent off for a pair of Sennheiser CX 550 Style II......

From Here ~ AskDirect: Sennheiser CX 550 Style II

Plugged them in this morning to compare & was pleasantly surprised. I tried them with Sony's back to back on the iPod Touch & the Sennheiser CX 550 Style II where much clearer & louder.

It's early days yet & I'm gonna run them in for the afternoon & try them again back to back with the Sony's on both my P1i & the iPod Touch.

I'll let you know how they compare.

Just in the process of transfer my CD collection on to iTunes using Apple Lossless setting

Thanks for reading

Re: Sennheiser CX 550 Style II

I am still testing the earphones.

Up to press I am very impressed with them. Good Bass & a Sparkling treble.

Just redoing my collection to ACC 320. I did try Lossless but ran out of disc space on my iPod touch.

Has anyone else got a pair of these earphones? What do you think of them?

Cheers

Re: Sennheiser CX 550 Style II

bump this up, I cant seem to find any reviews on these and considering either buying the cx 95s for £50 or buying these for £60. Can anyone say whether the differences are between the 2 and it is worth the extra tenner?!

Re: Sennheiser CX 550 Style II

Hi
I do agree there isn't many reviews around atm on these earphones.

I did find ~ Sennheiser CX 550 Style II - ProductWiki unbiased product reviews

EPRIM » 18 new models for Sennheiser Street, Sport and Style lines

So far I'm loving them.

I use my iPod on Treble boost, I like lots of clear top end, & there is oodles of very well controlled bottom end there too with the Sennheiser CX 550 Style II

Cheers!

Re: Sennheiser CX 550 Style II

These are indeed the same headphones as the CX95's. I emailed Sennheiser to ask and the response was:

This is indeed a 'facelift' - mid-way through the product life cycle. The packaging has been updated and the colour finish on the headphone has been changed, along with the model number. The 2-year guarantee remains the same.

So you can expect exactly the same quality sound from the CX95's but with some fancier packaging and (finally) a neck clip thing.

That confirms my suspicions. It is indeed a line-up renaming exercise on Sennheiser's part.

Raikaito: The Sennheiser CX550 has a symmetrical cable.

Suspicions? That sounds rather sinister! It's not unusal for companies to rebrand and to be honest the better accesories are worth it - for a new purchase anyway.

Yeah. "Hmm, that confirms my suspicions!" is the sort of thing you could see a comic evil genius saying, while rubbing his hands with glee!
