Question Wireless optical headphones

I'm getting a massive headache over deciding which optical wireless headphones to get for use solely on my PS3.

I have done a lot of research, found good recommended products then when going to buy I have found they where brought out as much as 8 years ago.

I was initially looking at Sony headphones; initially this one:

Sony MDR-DS3000K Infrared Wireless Headphones: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

I then realised 2 more have been brought out since then. The DS6000 and DS8000 which completely threw me.

I am now stumped on what to get. I really need opinions are there any recently released decent pairs out there or ones soon to be released?

i'm looking for the same.
good to hear some recomendations

i'm thinking about Sennheser RS130 but they don't have optical input and don't support DTS only SRS.
maybe there is some option to connect it directly to PS3 optical.

Re: Wireless optical headphones

Yes i was looking at them as well but the lack of optical put me off.

You said you where looking for a pair to plug directly into the ps3 optical, don't they all? That's what i'm looking for anyway.

Re: Wireless optical headphones

I'm thinking of getting

Sennheiser Worldwide: RS 140 - RS 140

But because they don't have the optical input I need to find a dolby decoder of some sort which i can't seem to find anywhere.

Re: Wireless optical headphones

I've also been looking at the DS3000 for late night PS3 gaming but my budget is limited to sub £100 and as yet haven't found them at this price. A used set went on ebay for $130 this week so there could be a deal out there.

I rejected the Senns listed above, for one, the lack of optical input and perhaps more importantly they do not list these (Senns) as 5.1 headphones. For purely gaming and thinking on FPS's specifically (eg COD), directional audio is going to make a huge difference to the experience.

Check out the Ear Force x4s which are along the similar line to the the Sony's if you're looking at primarily gaming set of headphones.

Fingers crossed for some deals in the sales - I wonder if Zavvi stock them?

Re: Wireless optical headphones

Looks cool, i'm gonna read up on more reviews to see how they fair with blu-ray movies as well. The microphone option is cool but i don't have a 360 so im guessing it will just be there doing nothing.

Re: Wireless optical headphones

I've decided to stick with wired headphones purely because most wireless headphones seem to lack bass and have minor problems with interference.

I'm going to most likely go for the Sennheiser HD595 but I really want to get this virtual surround on them (or at least take high quality output from the optical out on the ps3). I've also been told with headphones like that might need further amplification for full effect. Is wanting both of these features going to set me back a lot.
