help needed for a newbee, please

I always have and still do enjoy my music, but I damaged my hearing some time ago and have high frequency hearing loss, which affects sounds over 4 khz,
I listen to my music ( usually pink floyd, super tramp, hendrix and similar ) on either my Ipod or walkman with UE Super Fi earbuds and have been quite happy with the setup, now I have digital open hearing aids which let the tones that I can hear ok go directly into the ear, and sorts out the high tones that I struggle with, ...normally I only use these hearing aids when I am watching films on tv, so I can hear the surround sound ok,

The other day I used a set of wireless senheiser full size headphones over top my hearing aids, and all a sudden things sounded a lot better ( I think they were sennheiser R 35s )
So now I have been looking at purchasing a pro-ject headbox II headphone amp and a set of either sennheiser HD 595 or HD 650 headphones the above would only be used with Ipod and possibly my walkman, it doesn't have to ridiculously loud but I would like a nice sound quality.

sorry for the long winded post, but I would be greatfull for anyones veiws on my idea (good or bad ) thanks ...UFO...
