3.5mm to Optical Headphone Adaptor

Anyone know if you can get an adaptor which lets you plug in a 3.5mm headphone into an optical cable?

Reason I ask is my PS3/360 go via optical to a switch box. My AMP doesn't have a 3.5mm headphone socket so I though about plugging in via optical on the output of the switch, yet without an optical headphone I'd need someway to connect it up.

Any ideas?

This cannot be done. As the optical cable carriers light and the 3.5mm jack carriers sounds via copper cable.

Can you draw a basic picture of what you have as its a little confusing what your wanting to do.

You'll need a DAC.

Re: 3.5mm to Optical Headphone Adaptor

The one I suggested has a headphone out with volume control.

However, not all DACs do.

Re: 3.5mm to Optical Headphone Adaptor

Thanks everyone, kind of regretting this now. May just end up getting some decent headphones which will do me for travelling (PXC450s / QC3s) and then plug them into my TV and change my PS3/360 settings to put sound through this whenever I want to use the earphones.

Didn't realise it would need a DAC but thanks for pointing this out.

Thx
