Heaphones for movies and gaming

Guys what are your reccomendations for headphones/Amp for movies and gaming , as I was seriously considering getting a full 5.1 set for my bedroom but I decided it would be slightly overkill considering I wouldnt be able to use it to it's full capabilities and not really suitable considering other people in the house. So I was wondering what is the top gear I can pick up and whether it is a good option to be going heaphones route. Your advice will be really useful as im not an expert in this region , I have a decent budget considering im now not spending it a full 5.1. Thanks in advance

P.S a questions I have been wondering how would I connect my speakers so that I can use them for gaming/ BR Movies late a night?

Re: Heaphones for movies and gaming

hmm probably the pioneer se-dir800c or if u can afford it the 2000c or 3000c.

or you could go the seperate route and get say a JVC-Victor SU-DH1 sennheiser hd 600 and a little headphone ammp at say 30 quid.

links to buy from:
http://bluetin.com/catalog/index.htm...0f96e55a3875ad
http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=146352&partner=froogle
www.audiocubes.com for importing the pioneer's

either should sound awesome.

tada dolby headphone! although for dolby headphone and 5.1 simulation u will want it linked via optical out and and dolby digital or dts soundtrack into a ps3 xbox or a pc with a DD live or dts connect soundcard for all sources decoded into dts like the auzentech prelude or something.

ive no experience with them apart from what i read about those items i linked which all sounded really good.i will be buying something similar as well i cant have 500 watts of surround pumping all the time and to get the same volume levels and details as headphones give u need really high volume from speakers imho.not to mention a well decorated room with no echo vinyl floors matt white walls etc which i have.i tested out a set of logitech z-5500 with a dts stream(max 1.5mb stream from optical) from blu-ray which was horrible.so i linked in the headphones to the logitech pod switch to the pcm (uncompressed studio quality audio up to 7.1) soundtrack which was stereo through the headphone with no surround effects and it knocked my socks off! dolby headphone with the dts source will again sound way better than what i have heard so far and it should be utterly immense at high volume.

Re: Heaphones for movies and gaming

I chose Ultrasone HFI=2200 ULE for Hi-Fi and TV
Circumaural phones and the experience is exceptional, very involving, you hear detail that you don't hear through the speakers

I like the protection built into Ultrasone headphones to protect you from electrical/magnetic radiation and to protect your hearing, I use them for many hours sometimes

Sennheiser HD25-11 for computer use, light, tough as, good sound
supraaural they sit on the ear, quick to take on and off and they cut out most outside sound so you can concentrate on the game !
