Question Sony MDR-DS3000K Infrared Wireless Headphones

Hello,

I'm hoping for some advice as to whether the Sony MDR-DS3000K headphones, or similar, will work with my DVD player.

My DVD is a Toshiba SD-150ESB which I have plugged directly into my TV which is a Toshiba 32ZP46 using component video and coaxial digital audio cables which gives me 5.1 sound from the TVs external speakers. N.B. I don't have a spearate home cinema system.

What I'm not clear on is whether I will be able to get 5.1 from these, or similar, headphones given that the DVD output is digital coaxial rather than optical. Will they plug in even or do I need a box inbetween?

If they don't then are there any others or is it not possible with my current DVD player?

Aplologies if this is a naive question but I don't want to splash out on a nice set of headphones only to find they don't work with my DVD player which is to be fair 3 years old.

Thanks in advance for any advice
