Re: sennheiser studio/dj vs hifi headphones

Hi Woolz

It all really depends what there going to be used for most. Personally for in the studio i always use my sennheiser HD 25s. These are great for reference and monitoring, but beware, after a long stint in the studio they can become uncomfortable.

For home use im currently using some HD 515s. Which for TV, Games and Music are great. But certainly give a coloured sound. Not ideal for mixing down, or mastering.

Id always advise a pair of HD25s for any studio. And another pair for home use.....

With you wanting to jam on your drums, id be leening away from the HD25s due to the comfort of them after a long session though.

Hope that helps, and obviously is all my opinion.

Re: sennheiser studio/dj vs hifi headphones

I've had my HD 25s for about 12+ years and they're still going strong. They were my DJing headphones of choice and performed great in varying club environments, I can't comment on studio use because I've never been in one, they have nice and clean sound reproduction and I would buy another pair, or the current Sennheiser equivalent, if needs be. When DJing comfort was never an issue with the predominant one ear style and two to find a cue point, but they do make your ears ache a bit with prolonged use of both cups. That said, they cost me £120 and have been worth every penny.

+1

Amazing DJing Cans... Especially when you just want to use one ear. The closed cup works wonders there.

And ear ache is actually more of a problem than the comfort. I find they feel like there sucking out my brain(if there is one) more than hurting my ears with the cushoning, Although i have used them for long periods 4/5hrs + in the studio.

Take not of whenever you see some cans being used on TV shows there almost always HD25s.. Industry standard
