Shure SE210s vs Sennheiser PX100

Hi - I've been very happy with a pair of Sennheiser PX100 headphones over the last 2 or 3 years for the occasional train journey and flight I have.

However I recently had a transatlantic flight to go on, so splashed out on a pair of Shure se210s for the journey. On the whole I was quite pleased with them, but always had a nagging doubt about the bass.

Anyway, just been on a train for a couple of hours and compared the two side by side, and imo the Sennheisers for me give a nicer, richer sound. However, the Shures sound just as crisp and block out nearly all the external noise, but have disappointing bass.

My question is this: if I were to upgrade and spend £150 on the Shure SE420's, would my bass issue be resolved?

I listen to my music on an iPod classic and unfortunately the majority of my music is ripped at 128k. Is this really my problem, not the headphones?? (although the Sennheisers sound pretty good to me)

Tell me no, as I have nearly 500 albums I've ripped over the last 5 years or so

I'm not a mega audiophile as you've guessed, but appreciate decent rich sound. Before parting with £150 cash, is there anywhere I can try the Shure's?? If I don't like them, can I return them?

Cheers!
Marcus

Re: Shure SE210s vs Sennheiser PX100

Not in the UK, unless a friendly forumer lives near you and owns the SE420, but I think most people skip it and jump straight to the SE530s

Another question is of course whether you find the bass lacking on the merits of the SE210 itself or compared to the PX100. Though they are completely different fitting style of phones so it is not an exact comparison...

Finally see my post here; post 3. I am going to predict that your bass issue will be improved by re-ripping your music...
