Noise Cancelling of Neighbours Bass

my neighbour is fond of dance music and I can often hear the bass through the wall.

would noise cancelling headphones help eliminate the sound from this? If not completely could it partially help?

Looking at the Sennheiser PXC 450 by the way. i presume they can be used without the noise cancelling on, as well as having it on whilst listening to music etc, and with the noise cancelling on for just sitting around when theyre not plugged in?

edit - also how are they to sleep with whilst on

Re: Noise Cancelling of Neighbours Bass

ear plugs are the best (and cheapest) way to eliminate unwanted sound. not the most comfortable though.

NC headphones are best at reducing constant drones, like planes, fans etc. changing sound is harder to cancel. i'm not sure a set of headphones will really make that much difference.

the PXC450s can be used with or without noise cancelling. You can also use them without a cable if you wish. They are not great for sleeping with - they're too big for that. I don't think any over the ear phones will work for sleep. Again, ear plugs are probably the way forward.

really good headphones btw

Re: Noise Cancelling of Neighbours Bass

Thanks for your reply. Got some earplugs on order but just wanted to make sure before i shelled out £160 on some new technology.

Might still get them as I've become more conscious of how my noise may affect others, and I quite enjoy having the intimacy with the music/TV wityh headphones on anyway.

Thanks again
