Looking for headphones between £50 & £100

Hi All

I know that there have been a lot of posts on this forum regarding headphones in this price range. I am looking for a new pair of headpones to listen to my ipod, which I have all my mp3's encoded at 192kbps. I already have a pair of Shure in ear headphones, which I am pleased with the sound, but they are the type that go over the ear and behind your head.

So I am looking for a pair in the price bracket mentioned above, that are passive in ear noise reduction, they hang straight down from the ears and the cord from each ear piece is symetrical to where they join together. Also I don't like the jack plug to be at right angles when i plug in, I want it to stick straight up al la the ipod packaged ear buds. And also of course they have to have good sound quality for the price.

Does anybody know of a pair that fits these criteria?

Cheers for any help

What is wrong with what you got? What shures you got? And you can hang them straight down it's just that they won't be as secure...

Nothing wrong with the Shure's, the sound quality is good. I just find them uncomfortable that's all.

Denon AH-C700 meet the physical description.

The great plus is;
Deep, tight bass.
Forward, warm mids
Bright, clear highs

Beautiful sound at the lower end of your price range.

If its the ec2S you have they work both ways, behind the ear (as intended) or hang down, also try one of the smaller buds, i use the smallest and softest ones.

whats uncomfortable about them? If buds try foam ones or smaller ones as mentioned before. If round the ears, you can hang them as well. What shures do you have?

The Shure's that I have are the E2C's. It's my personal opinion that they are uncomfortable, I have tried all the different size ear pieces that came with them.

Christ it's like getting told off at school. Reano do you work for Shure or something? Sounds like it the way you are defending them!!!!!

I 100% agrees with you. The E2Cs are great headphones apart from the fit. The black, and clear rubber tips just fall out my ear, small or large. The orange self positioning tips (foam) are good as they fit to your ear, however they aren't the most comfortable and they do need to be replaced. Also I've noticed in cold conditions, the rubber ones have no chance of staying in my ear, even for one song. It's a shame, my £3 Sony headphones have better fitting/ comfort than the E2Cs, obviously audio quality is a one horse race.

Go to eBay and find some exotic replacement tips. I found some for the standard ones that came with the phones and they are even better fits with more foam.

Re: Looking for headphones between £50 & £100

I had a look on ebay. All seem to be the ones I got with my initial purchase. I wouldn't mind to try a different bud actually. PM a link to the ones you got, or describe your purchase in more detail.
