Headphones for Guitar amp and Music use

Hi,

I am in the market for some new headphones. I have had a pair of open backed Technics for a long time, which I loved but they have been killed so I need to replace them. Ideally, I would like something I could use for general listening as well, but their main use would be practising without annoying the neighbours. I have a pair of Stagg closed backs which can't cope with the output of the amp and sound awful. They are ok for listening to the radio but anything with any detail and they are rubbish. I would like something with the kind of donut padding that sits over the ear if that makes sense. I find them much more comfortable. I am looking to spend up to £100.

I am a little confused though. Last time I got headphones I went for some high impedance headphones as I thought that was necessary for the output from something like a guitar amp. Looking around the net, it seems a lot of people aren't bothering and are using low impedance phones without a problem.

Any advice anyone has is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Dean

Too be honest you won't annoy your neighbours with open backed headphones. It would only annoy someone if say they were in the same room or sitting next to you, etc.

There are loads around. You can't go that wrong with the Sennheiser HD600 'second hand' for c£100. Also Grado's 125 will be fine for guitar monitoring.
