Sennheiser RS130

So, I bought a set of the RS130 from play.com, and unpacked them and charged them last night.. 16 hours.. So, after that I was already slightly annoyed.

Upon listening to the sound, it's really not that great! My £10 Logitech headset seems to provide deeper bass, and a more rich listening experience.

Is there anything I can do to improve the sound?
Could it be the cheap intergratted soundcard of my laptop? WMP? Wrong DFX settings?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Though I must comment on the build, they feel great! And the reception is amazingly clear.

Re: Sennheiser RS130

Hi Judge, bought a pair of these myself a couple of months ago and must admit I'm surprised by your findings, I use mine mainly for listening to TV at night but I did hook them up to the headphone output of my home cinema amp and was amazed at the quality of the sound, not as good as an equivalent pair of wired cans but really good for wireless cans. You might be right about the output of your current soundcard, try them on your CD or DVD output to see what they are reallly capable of.

I don't have a DVD player, I've always used my PS3. So should I get a USB to 3.5mm adapter? :P.

Maybe i'll try plugging them into my phone, see what kind of sound quality change there is.

Re: Sennheiser RS130

As with most headphones, they probably need 'burning in'. After 100 hours usage they will sound better.

Re: Sennheiser RS130

Hi again Judge and Beefy, can you connect them to your TV or Hi Fi? like any other piece of equipment they will sound only as good as the rest of the chain.

Pound for pound the wireless headphones are not close to wired headphones. For best sound you have to ensure everything in the chain is very good. If practical getting a good wired headphone with an extension lead would be a better solution.

It is still hard to believe that a 10 pound headset can beat them.

Regarding burn-in, I bought the RS130 for my mother, and even without burn-in, they deliver a very good sound.

There is not much to do about settings:
1. SRS off (it only masks the sound, IMO)
2. Turn up the gain of your source high enough (if it is too high, a yellow LED will blink rapidly on the sender unit, if too low, it will blink slowly).
3. Tune to the right frequency.
4. Adjust the volume on the headphones.
5. As already said, ensure that the output you are using is of good quality (you can do it by connecting your Logitech headphones).

If it still sounds bad, there are two possibilities:
1. You have a lot of RF interference in your area/room.
2. You have a faulty unit.

I hope it helps

We are both right. I have just checked the manual. Rapidly flashing means too high, slowly flashing, too low I will edit my post.

Come on, that was harmless. Look here for the instructions I have given in order to adjust the subwoofer:

Tuning your subwoofer: REW How-to
