All I need is comfort, sound quality and value...

Hello folks,

I currently use a pair of cx300s, and they're fine for when i'm out and about with my ipod, but i'm looking for something a bit more comfortable for when i'm sitting at home and i want to listen to music when everyone else has gone to bed. (i also have a pair of hd202s that i use for djing with, and while the sound from them is fine, they do tend to feel bulky and make my head sweat after a while).

i'd like good sound quality, and, as i mentioned before, comfort. I'm not so bothered about noise cancellation though. i'd like to spend less than £50.

I've had a look around and read some reviews, and i think the px100 seems like the best option - unless somebody on here knows any different!
Are there any other models i should be looking at?

Thanks.

Hi

If you like the CX300 then the PX100 would be a similar experience, the PX100 though does not seem so "in the head" due to them been open headphones.

I have just purchased some Denon AH-C 700s from www.iheadphones.co.uk for £59.99 and can highly recommend them as an upgrade fron the Sennheisers.

Thanks

Re: All I need is comfort, sound quality and value...

For me the £50 mark is quite akward because most of the models IMO that offer a substantial improvement over the CX300s are costing a bit more than that really.

I'd look out for stuff like the Beyer DT531/150/250/770, Goldring DR150, Senn HD595 at that sort of price on the second hand market. These all represent a true step up in actual quality over the CX300s which I've always felt offer good performance for the cash - I think they punch above their weight.

That said, if they must be new, I'd be tempted to give either the Koss Porta-Pro or Beyer DT231 Galactic a punt.

PX 100 also get my vote, and at £17.99 from play they are an absolute bargain.....
