Sen HD595 vs Denon AH-D1001 vs Ultrasone HFI-780

Hello,

I am currently looking to buy headphones. I will be listening to them only at home, mostly to lossless music from PC (xonar D2), gaming, and some movies. So I need rather all a rounder.

I don't care about my surroundings so closed or open are both good.

Priority list look like this:
1. Quality of sound
2. Cable length (longer better I can utilize even 5m)
2. Comfy
3. Price (but no more then 100sterling)

I do not plan phones amp.

Can any body help me with choice by some opinions.

I heard that Denons AH-D1001 are very good especially in terms of clarity, but week bass - and 595 are always getting good opinions but nobody is saying that they are great for example in this or that.

I can also take a look at some other companies but Grado is no go for me.

Thanks in advance for all replay's and help.

Cheers

Have a look at Ultrasone HFI series, very good for games, movies and music.

Beware, though they have excellent bass, the treble is also very detailed and may feel harsh if your ears don't like higher frequencies.

Re: Sen HD595 vs Denon AH-D1001 vs ?

well, can;t say i can compare as i don't really go for headphones other than standard ones that came with my MD player and some cheap sennheiser earphones but recently bought the 595's so as not to disturb others and received them a few days ago, in fact listening to them right now. Initial impressions are good although for someone who uses earphones daily and has done for the last few years they are odd.

still prefer a pair of speakers as although the detail is better the sound separation doesn't IMO suit music or games, but needs must.

still can't fault the sound quality and my md player can power them fine, they are easier than the earphones i use. comfy as well.

these are my first pair of circumaural phones and seeing as i couldn't test any before buying i went for something that looked good bang for buck (or pound as it may be) and had good reviews.

As someone with much the same requirements I thought I'd mention considering upgrading to the Audio Technicha ATH-AD700s. I tend to break headphones and this set looks good because it has the same sort of design as my Steelseries Siberia which have lasted a few years (most of it anyway - I've managed to break the volume control and headband) and reportedly have very good sound quality for the price so they should be better than the flat audio of the siberias and more like medusas I had previously (two pairs lasting thirteen months between them).

Re: Sen HD595 vs Denon AH-D1001 vs ?

Two days later and after some reading done and advice taken I am also taking in consideration Ultrasone HFI 780.

Those are little over my budget around 125 - 135£ but they are supposed to match sound quality of HD600/650 which are too expensive for me.

Are HFI 780 worth paying additional 40£ over HD595?

Thanks for all input guys.

Currently checking on Audio Technicha ATH-AD700...

Re: Sen HD595 vs Denon AH-D1001 vs ?

I am using AH-D1000 for week now - well they are getting better every day.

At beginning bass was very week and I am not exactly bass junky type, but it is getting better with burning in.

After one week I can say I am happy with them, v nice addition is 5,3m cord which allows me to go almost everywhere where I want when I listen to music - unfortunately it too short for 5cm to reach toilet .

Cheers
