Children's Earphones

Hi All,

I'm looking for a pair of childs earphones as the ones provided with the mp3 player keep falling out of my daughters( 7 year old ) ears. I'm not really bothered about if they are the ones which go in her ear or not as long as they stay there. It's driving me mad having to listen to HSM over and over again on the main stereo so please help!!!!

Re: Children's Earphones

I had a similar problem when I bought my son an mp3 player, he couldn't come to terms with the earbuds at all.

I bought him the PX100, they are on ear phones with adjustable headband, which he loves. They are very portable as they fold neatly and sound good too - I often 'borrow' them to listen from the laptop when the family are watching TV progs I dislike.

Re: Childrens Earphones

I know this is an old thread, but just available now are headphones for children that automatically limit sound pressure level and don't need batteries.

Take a look at a range of Children's Headphones from dB Logic that limit sound pressure level to 85dB. The dB Logic children's headphones are designed to prevent the permanent hearing damage that can be caused by extended listening at high volume levels.

The sound quality with the dB Logic headphones is good enough to consider them if you are an adult and listen for long periods of time (e.g. in the gym) or if you have small ear canals.

Re: Children's Earphones

Do these Ultimate Ears phones have a fixed attenuator or do they only start to limit as volume increases?

Any other recommendations for children's (7) size head/earphones? Volume isn't too much of an issue as the MP3 can be limited but physical size is.

Thank you very much for this information. I am surprised these products have not been made public (not that I know, at least) in the mass media so that all parents know about this. It is a serious problem, and a lot of people aren't aware of the risks. I am going to keep this information in mind and tell everybody I know.

Re: Children's Earphones

Sadly no more input from HiFi Headphones so I've ordered a set from Play at £17.99 delivered. One review I saw suggested that they aren't labelled L&R which seems a bit odd as does the lack of info on UE's site.

I'll report when they arrive.

Re: Children's Earphones

OK, arrived from Play today - opened!

They have their own site here.

They really aren't labelled L&R.

Supplied with 3 different size gels x 2 so whatever size is required, there's also a spare set.

Can't say I'm overly impressed as they seem distinctly bass light, unless held into the ears to improve the seal. Maybe that's my ears? I have to temper that though with the fact that I don't like earphones full stop.

However, the littlun' for who they're intended likes them & with the smallest gels fitted, they don't fall out.

I was surprised at how loud they will go but haven't yet done any comparisons to see how effective the SPL reduction is.

Re: Children's Earphones

I found an excellent option called StoryPhones - they are MP3 headsets so there are no wires or anything like that. They are really child friendly looking aswell.

I think they are mainly focused on schools and nurseries but they also sell individual headsets for the home market/individual children. I have just put an order in and excitedly awaiting delivery!! Their website is www.storyphones.co.uk

Re: Children's Earphones

Also, (just read a couple of the above posts fully!) - the StoryPhones come with their own free software, kind of like iPod and iTunes. You can limit the volume on here so the child can't turn it up too loud. www.storyphones.co.uk

Re: Children's Earphones

HI, not sure if anyone is still looking for childrens headphones, but thought you might be interested in the following website. They are making Character headphones for children. They also have a volume limiter fitted so they wont damage hearing. Go to Little Star Creations

Hope this helps!
