Headphones for music upgrade.

OK,

I currently have a set of Technics RP-F350 for listening to music on my computer while I do work but I'm looking to upgrade.

Here are the specs on the Technics in case anyone is unsure

Code:
# Comfort soft headband and cloth earpads.
# 40mm driver unit.
# Neodymium rare earth magnet for rich and powerful sound with CCAW voice coil.
# XBS (extra bass system) port boosts low frequencies.
# 3m cord.
# Gold plated plug.
# 6.3mm plug adapter.
# Frequency response 10Hz - 28kHz.
My budget for an update isn't huge, I'd like to be around the £70 mark.

I've had a look at sennheisers but this whole frequency response stuff throws me off.

Can anyone provide a good upgrade for me?

Thanks!

Just to add, currently I'm looking at the Sennheiser HD-280 Pro and the Sony MDR-7506.

Re: Headphones for music upgrade.

I haven't personal seen or listened to the Technics RP-F350. They look closed back (or maybe they are semi-open). Is there any reason you chose closed back headphones? Do you need to listen with other people nearby who you might disturb?

See our Headphone Buying Guides for more info on the differences between open and closed headphones.

If you are able to live with open back headphones (i.e. you listen in a quiet environment where you can't annoy anyone else) then the Audio Technica AD-500 open back headphones are within your budget. Another alternative, but a little over budget, would be the truly excellent Grado SR60 open back headphones.

Re: Headphones for music upgrade.

I just prefer the sound to be locked in, I've also never been a fan of the sound from the ones that just sit over your ears.
