Thanks: Gave 0, Got 0 | Looking for phones for cycling & gym - 2 diff pairs needed?
Hi All,
As the title says, I'm after earphones for use whilst cycling and at the gym.
I think I'm going to need two pairs as I want isolation at the gym to block out cr*ppy music, but not whilst cycling as I need to hear the traffic!
I can't wear standard ipod style earphones, they just fall straight out unless I jam them in, in which case they hurt!
So, they need to be ear canal style.
I've been looking at the V-Mode Vibe for cycling, though they are fairly pricey. Can anyone recommend any others that don't completely block out outside noise?
As for the gym, I need some that block out external noise, don't fall out whilst running, and aren't too expensive as I'm probably going to end up spending more on the cycling pair! What do people think of the JVC Marshmallow ones?
Many Thanks,
Janine

Janine | Hi Janine,
I recently purchased some Beyerdynamic SX 10's from an online retailer for £16. Sound quality is very good and they are sport style headphones which sit just in the ear and have a solid band which reaches around behind your neck. I've worn them in the gym and cycling and have had no problems with them falling off or any noise vibrations. http://www.beyerdynamic.co.uk/beyerp..._portable.html
Good luck.

If you want isolation for the gym, but not for cycling, then you will need two pairs, no doubt about it.
For cycling, I'd recommend the Koss KSC-75. Non isolating design which sounds great.
For the gym, I use the CX300 but I would not say they are the best because for me they dont always stay in well, especially when on the treadmill... might be better to have a similar design but with a headband... but I dont have any experience of anything like that unfortunately. I'll let others suggest a possibility for that.

I'm not sure they'd fit me as I seem to have odd shaped ears - I've tried these type of headphones before, and they are designed to go in one position, and not move. Fine if that position is comfortable, but often it's not for me, or it's comfortable, but I can't hear a thing out of the phones!
Thanks for the suggestion, though. |

It's obviously not a problem for cycling, but if I wanted to use them on the train I would get some very annoyed people around me!
I suppose I can always use the gym pair for the train too, though.
I wonder if there's any cases that have storage for 2 pairs of earphones?
Thanks

Pretty much any headphone which leaks sound in (none isolating) will also leak sound out, so you are correct in your assumption that it would probably annoy people. However, I can appreciate the need for two pairs of earphones.
