How to make the AKG K701 more comfortable?

These headphones are far from uncomfortable, but my very short hair combined with sensitive scalp and long listening periods mean that my head hurts. As a result my HD580s get more use despite the fact that I consider the 701 far superior.

I'm currently using a face cloth wrapped around the headband. While this is reasonably effective, it looks idiotic! Ideally I'd have something more like the sennheiser velvet pads, or something similarly soft that spreads out the pressure.

Any suggestions?

Ask the question over at head-fi.org as there is a much larger audience who own the AKG701 and a lot more who will have tried tweaking them one way or another than you'll find here.
