Grado's and gaming

Just a word of caution to anyone considering these headphones there's no soundstage or bass what so ever cant believe these get recommended so much from what i can hear only thing they are good for would be classical and instrumental music and progressive rock.

Re: Grado's and gaming

They are always recommended for rock music, and are said to have a distinct 'Grado sound' which won't be to everyone's taste - fast tight bass. Small sound stage and harsh/shrill highs were criticisms.
They also need to be burned in to achieve best results.
Oh yeah and there's more than one model, some of which need amping more than others...

So pretty much the opposite of HD959s etc which are known good gaming cans. But again depends which model you're on about so as to compare really.

What model??

I Love the Grado's, but they are not for gaming/tv/dvd. They are designed for music, and there are few better at reproducing that.

For gaming, go with some closed senheisser's or even some second hand Sony's MDR-V500 etc. They are much more suited to the low end, that most gaming heeds towards.

Re: Grado's and gaming

I bought RS80's a month ago and I know there not run in yet but considering most of my music is rock or prog I just can't stand the over bright top and lack of bass, no mater if it's coming direct from my amp or via any of my three headphone amps.

I have just bought a set of Equation RP-21 which i already prefer before they have even run-in.

But i'm so tempted by the Sennie 650 which are now at very sensible money.
