Senn 595 vs 555

im going to buy one of those. I just dont know wether I should buy the 555 and have some nice sound or just invest a little more for something better. Is the money difference worthy??? I mean which one should I buy? Im gonna use it connected to my laptop(that has no sound card just the normal connection) and my Ipod . And maybe later i will buy and AMP if its needes for this models(is it? would the 555 need an amp for its true qualities to come shining??the 595 needs one right??).

Also just a final question: Is the 555 okay to carry around with my Ipod??? or is it like the 595 that is a stay home headphone? Thanks

(please help me)

Re: Senn 595 vs 555

I have not listened to either set of cans but they are same size(big) and open, so not suitable for portable use even tho they would not need an amp to drive.

Have to disagree there. They both really would benefit from an Amp. Both are quality cans though.

Re: Senn 595 vs 555

Erm I sort of agree back at ya .
From what I understand there are very few cans that wouldn't benefit from additional amping, however there are some cans which are more ok than others without additional amping(and therefore don't need amping) and the HD595 is one set which falls into this group. Don't really know about the HD555 tho TBH.

Re: Senn 595 vs 555

my vote goes for the 595's......get a set and i'm sure you'll be happy.....try a headphone amp later if you want to......if you're after something a bit more portable the sp 25's are great and are closed.

.....portable amp suggestion.....

out of stock at the mo though

Re: Senn 595 vs 555

1. both 555 and 595 got 50 ohm impedance so both are good for listening connected to your laptop/ipod/mp3 player.

2. just checked now and price of 595s is actually lower than 555 on amazon.

3. both of them are very similar in size, so they wont be very good for portable use. on the other hand if you dont mind to look a bit strange its up to you

4. performance wise 595 are a bit more neutral (similar with hd 600 and 650) 555 are a bit more lively.

im sure u will be very happy with either of them, both are fantastic headphones.
