Problem with 5.1headphones - Creative HQ2300D

The phones come with a coaxial to digital cable. When i connect it to the dvd drive and decoder it works perfectly! On the other hand when i connect it to my xbox 360 or pc via optic cable it doesn't work but it should.

The optic cable i bought was:

Is the cable compatible?.

I have the same sort of setup, however I have noticed that the optical socket the the XBOX 360 end is a little 'loose' for some cables. That end should click into place not just rest in the socket. I had to try a different cable in order for it to work properly.

Make sure that this is the case and that you can see a red light down the cable where it plugs into the headphone processing box.

..and no it's not a special cable but make sure you have plugged it in to the correct socket on the top of the box, there are 2. One is for optical and the other is for analogue.
