Headphone Advice For My New MP3 Player

I have just order a Sony NWZA818B MP3 player however I am unsure which decent earphones to go for. I am not a fan of in ear headphones as they are not very comfortable from experience of owning Walkmans etc in the past. The reason why I am asking this question is that I haven’t owned a Mp3 player/walkman for a while and just want a bit of advice.

I would prefer the headphones to be comfortable, budget of £50ish pounds, they will be used for mainly commuting to work and travelling and they must be easy to store in a bag without getting broken easy (maybe foldable ones?)

I do have a pair of Sennheiser HD-600 but I think these would be too good to wear on the train to work dont you think?

Unless your slighty retarded or very thick skinned there's no way on earth you could ever wear a pair of Sennheiser HD-600's on your head to commute to work.

They are humungus headphones to commute in, they are designed to be used at home with a powerful headphone amp.

If you do decide to wear them on the train let me know what station you get on I need a good laugh.

Thats why I am asking on here, I did say in the original thread that they would be too big to wear.

I will look at the hd-25's, how are they for portibility and would they stand out alot?

Re: Headphone Advice For My New MP3 Player

Sennheiser HD600s have an impedance which is far too high. You'll have to turn the volume up a long way to hear much. This in turn will have an adverse effect on battery life. The HD25 (not the 25SPs, mind) are fantastic, if you can stand looking a bit daft on public transport although they are closed, so unlike the 600s you won't be able to hear what people say about you, not that it's ever bothered me too much. The impedance is much lower at 100ohms and they're bullet proof with every part being available as a spare part should you do any damage. These are a well kept secret in audiophile circles, although they've been almost industry standard in pro circles for years. Otherwise, I've just a pair of Ultimate Ears UE5pro from PC World for £119.95 and they're nearly as good, if you feel comfortable with ear-canal phones...

Audio-Technica ATH-SQ5

This over the ear phones were light weight, comfortable, had excellent sound fidelity, and effectively blocked outside sounds. If you are looking for headphones that are a good bargain for the money and have a limited budget, these are it.

Re: Headphone Advice For My New MP3 Player

the hd 25-1's are smaller than most other full size headphones. you'll get noticed, but you won't look like a pillock. and even if you do, who cares, they're better than those white bits of string, most mp3 player owners have!
