Sennheiser HD600 headband padding replacement.

Hello,
I have a pair of 10 year old Sennheiser HD600's and have bought a replacement headband padding strip.
Could anyone tell me how to do this as I don't want to break anything by forcing it the wrong way?
I notice that there are plastic retaining catches either side of the headband, but I don't know whether they should be slid out parallel to the headband or be lifted in a perpendicular fashion like a catch.
All advice gratefully received.
Thanks,
Mark.
