Advice - Want Headphones for gaming/travel/music
Hey guys, as you can see im new and I came accross your site via google.
For the past few days I have been looking for headphones as my old £20 rubbish things have died on me and I want to invest in a good pair of headphones. I will be using them for gaming ( not priority ) music, traveling long haul, and listening to ipod on the way to school etc. I have a budget of up to about £110 - 120 and just want some good headphones as stated. Please help out as I dont have a clue where to buy from nor what brands to go with.
Thankyou
Luke
EDIT: Oh, and I also am going to use them for movies.

Ok I'll start the ball rolling - you could go for some Sennheiser HD25-1 ii cans. They are closed (which sounds like you need), they are smallish, they are hard wearing and have very good sound quality.
A tad over your budget but still obtainable at £127 from http://www.iheadphones.co.uk/headpho...+HD25+1+ii.htm

Theyre fine, I will be able to afford them, thanks.
Will I be able to use these with my ipod or on flights?

Re: Advice - Want Headphones for gaming/travel/music
The HD25s sound excellent, with a slight emphasis on bass and treble response (and I mean slight). They offer a good degree of sound isolation but will let a lot of jet engine roar through. I've used them on planes and they aren't as good as Bose Quietcomfort 2s, which incidentally sound similar to the Senns (from what I remember some 3 or 4 years ago).
One thing that I don't like about my HD25s is they sit on my ears and my ears get sore after about an hour or so. Probably not helped by the fact I'm a specs wearer.
You will be able to use them with your Ipod.

Re: Advice - Want Headphones for gaming/travel/music
the HD25-1's are a brilliant pair of headphones. i've had mine for nearly 11 years, but if portability isn't an issue then i'd get the Equation Audio RP21's
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EQUATION-RP-21...QQcmdZViewItem
The Denon Ah-D1000's (sweet sound if a little shy on the bass) but the Denon's are the most comfortable pair of headphones, in my sub 40 collection!
The only other suggestion is the Alessandro MS-1's.

Ok then, I will order tonight or tomorrow, and by the way, I am getting a X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty sound card also to use for my gaming and music and movies. Do you think this will go well with the headphones? I really appreciate your help so far.
Luke.

They should go fine. The soundcard is one of the best ones out there and you should be able to get the most out of them using it - however if you are really into your music you could always buy a headphone amp too.

Re: Advice - Want Headphones for gaming/travel/music
Wohoo a bit of luck. Need some headphones for the telly so that I can watch films and play ps3 after everyone has gone to bed and remembered I had a set of seinh's somewhere lo and behold they are HD25's.
The plug is way to big for the tellys hp socket (fits my mixer) can anyone advise me what adapter I need ? Also I could do with more length on the cable so is it possible to get an extension?
Scuse my hijacking the thread and lack of knowledge

Isn't the plug already a 6.3 mm adapter which you can screw off to reveal the 3.5 mm jack?

Re: Advice - Want Headphones for gaming/travel/music
Hey guys, I ended up trailing everywhere since I cant order over the internet, and from all the places I would expect to sell the HD25's they didnt, and then when I arrived at hmv they had the hd25 sp II's theyre, so I got them. Are they much different? I heard they were just different as in the look and comfort etc.
Thanks guys
Luke
