Headphones with TV

I am going to have my Grandfather staying with me for at least two months. he is deaf as a post !
In his own house he either wears headphones or has the vol. full up ( lucky neighbours ) when watching TV.
My question is : is there a way of listening to the TV through headphones without cutting the sound from the TV, so that i can watch it as normal and he can have his headphones full blast ?
any suggestions would be appreciated by my Grandfather, Neighbours, and Me !

Quite a funny post that mate .

Does the tv have phono outs ? maybe you could route the sound into a amplifier and then plug some headphones into the amp?.

Hope you get something sorted
