What headphones do I need for a guitar amp?

Hi

I have just bought a new guitar and Marshall amp but cant seem to get any headphones to work.I have tried 3 pairs including my Beyer DT 331s,Sony Fonotopias and a pair of Creative ones i got with my MP3 player and no sound?Actually,i can manage to get a very tiny bit out of the Creative ones but with the amp on full blast.
Anyone know if this an impedance issue or a faulty amp?
Also,if it is an impedance issue, can anyone recommend a pair that will work.

Cheers

Owned a few guitar amps and never had a problem with connecting any regular headphones to them. Maybe have a look in the manual or ask the shop you got the amp from.

I have phoned the dealer and they recommended trying a pair of mono headphones.I cant see how that will work as I think if that were the case,a pair of stereo ones would work but just through one side?

Well a mono jack would be different from a stereo one, but I'd still expect something to get through to at least one ear. Could connect the amp to your mic socket on your laptop/pc since that's mono, then connect headphones to your laptop/pc and the soundcard should convert it to stereo.
