HELP!! closed headphones so's not...

Hi. From reading here i undersatnd that the HD25-1's

are a good closed headphone. Also the AKG 271, Beyerdyamic DT100?

But my question is which cant be heard best by others? Anyone who has experience with any of the above care to share.

I only have experience of the Beyer DT100 which has been a bit of a studio workhorse for as long as I can remember.

Very effective in terms of shutting out sounds in both directions but a bit heavy and not the most subtle transducer in the world.
You could also think about in-ear designs such as the Shure,Ultimate Ears etc.

hi alex2. The beyers definately are in the running. Regards to in-ear, im not really looking for this type of phone for home use. I currently have sen cx300's for my mobile music. Although at the price of the shures on amazon at the moment i might even upgrade those at some stage.

With the HD25 your girlfriend would need to put her ear against the HD25 to hear anything i.e. her ear less than an inch from the HD25 ear cup.

yes. i find headphones have other great uses than listening to my music collection. One of them being hearing less complaining! lol

It depends on how long a period you were going to wear the headphones.
The hd-25's are a good closed set but I can't wear them for anything over a half an hour. The velour earpads make them a lot more comforable but I'd look a maybe the hd-212 pro's or the hd-280 pro's. They are also cheaper.

thanks for your input. Arent the hd-25's much better sounwise than the hd's you mentioned? Because i am also looking for these to provide a decent upgrade to my Goldring 150's. I also hav some hd-201's. And i must say they sound more blunt than the Goldrings. I prefer the Goldrings but then they cost about 4 times as much as 201's.

I appreciate that the 25's must be a much tighter fit than my current headphones, but dont they stretch to your head a bit after a while?

I cant make out whether they are open or closed? It states circum aurial??
They look good quality for the price £74 inc delivery. Not sure if you would get stung by import duty or the post office though?

I thought you meant you wanted to watch TV and listen to it on the headphones.
In which case the hd-25-1 II's are unsuitable, mainly because of the cable lenght and the absence of some treble.

hi eirejam. Not for tv watching. For listening to my music cd's & mp3, flac files from my NAD cd play/roku through my Beresford DAC headphone amp output. Surely the hd-25-1 II's would be suitable. Im in a muddle now!

Well the hd-25 were originally designed for infight entertainment on planes. Then DJ's started to use them and they caught on. They were sennheisers best selling headphone for a long time.
As for your your needs, they would be perfect but you should also look at other manufacturers headphones too.

thanks for replying. Yes i agree. Why ive listed the other phones in this thread. The problem is, where i live, theres not mach chance of getting a listen of them. I guess i will just have to search on here for more reviews of them. Then i can try and make a decission which ones to go for.

morning all! Right now ive weedled my choices down to the following, bearing in mind i will be pairing with the Beresford TC-7510 DAC using headphone out.

Im really stuck at the moment. Mainly due to the fact that one of my main reasons for buying are for isolation . and mainly so that others can hear as little of the music playing as possible. Im also looking for the best overall sound quality.

I listen to anything from Pink Floyd, Le Zep, Stones, Love, Bob Dylan, Nick Drake ( i like a bit of acoustic folk type stuff) and the Foo's, KT Tunstall, Massive Attack, The Bees etc. So quite varied.

Anyone got any of the above, that can help? As you can appreciate these are all quite an expensive investment and any help in making my choice would be great.

Evening. Went for the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Premium Edition Headphones £145 Amazon today. Should hopefully receive them tomorrow.

I know these are meant to be quite bassy. But ive just read an average review of them in the latest stuff mag.

Well ill be able to review these myself soon. Ill post on here what i think.

I hope i havent made a mistake. As the stuff review hints at a lot of leakage with these phones.

morning. phones turned up at nine. good delivery. But they'll be going back. As i thought they leak badly.
Also, to be honest, i wasnt that impressed with sound quality with my setup.
I know they will probably sound loads better when used for a while. But out the box i prefer the sound coming from my Glodring 150's.
Also for closed backs they dont want to stay on my head. Maybe i prefer a tighter feel?
So i think i will try the 660's as i should probably done in the first place!
