A pair of Sennheiser CX300s will suit you down to the ground. I've used them for about 18 months now after going through 3 pairs of Sony EX71s in a much shorter period.

Re: Ipod 4gb - Earphones

if i can expand on that info (thanks)

if I were to purchase say the shure e2c's, would they be a waste of my money in that the quality of music being produced from the ipod wouldn't justify the earphone potential

Might sound silly, but those Shure's have really good sound insulation and you can't hear anything in the outside world, thats why I avoid them because I don't want to be deaf, incase someone is calling me.

But they are a great pair still!

Sen CX300 gets my vote!

Re: Ipod 4gb - Earphones

If you don't want in-ear phones, the Sennheiser PX 100s are excellent. Some people complain that they leak noise, but I've never had any problems.

Re: Ipod 4gb - Earphones

I think the crossroad mylar x3s (or xbs) are a good bet. They cost $57 for the X3s and $65 for the XBs (w/free shipping from jaben.net). I purchased mine about 2-3weeks back and i'm very happy and think they're well worth the money.

Here for more info:

(Xb version means more bass)

I was using the standard ipod earphones and couldn't believe how long it took me to realise how bad they were. These earphones really excel for me with dance music. The boom in hard trance, or hearing the drums in drum n bass, really impressed me, and also hearing the low notes on music with piano
