Thanks: Gave 3, Got 4 | Westone 3 - Best earphones money can buy?
After looking across this companies webpage, I have noticed that they have brand new earphones that are currently marked "Coming Soon".
It appears that these could be the best that money can currently buy for your MP3 etc, which is the first to have triple drivers with double crossover!
Not sure how much these will retail for, but you cant help but get excited as there doesnt appear to be any earphones, anywhere, that would be able to beat these at all.
320KB songs are going to need to be compulsory from now on! |

I couple of people have spent a little time with the Westone 3 - I re-ordered twice but I can't be bothered with these anymore, they've been delayed for such a long time over "Packaging Issues". Something must be wrong somewhere

I did hear that these have been delayed for a very long time, and not really sure why really, but I do have the Westone UM2 and have placed an order to get impressions done, as I have always wondered what custom ear moulds would feel like, so I decided to treat myself.
Until people get hold of the Westone 3, I will just happily stay with these as they are really quality, not sure if any earphones can beat these ones TBH?

UE 10's or 11's would be my weapon of choice although I can't quite bring myself to spend that amount of money on headphones.
However, many people on Head-Fi prefer the sound of cans rather than IEM's, I guess it is all subjective in the end...

After a full year's delay the W3 was released last month: Universal-fit earphones :: Westone pjbox are the only UK retailer at the moment at the price of £303, but rumours that they and other online stores will have an alternative supplier after the new year and a new price
Due to the economy the £~$ exchange rate is less favourable for importers, and after taking into account probably customs and VAT it may well make sense for once to buy UK stock
I haven't used my UM2 since buying the AT ESW9 in August which are now my portable can of choice straight out of my 4G Nano. But I now have my curiosity piqued... damn http://www.earphonesolutions.com/westone-3-reviews.html

I thought about buying the Westone 3's but decided on the new Sennheiser IE8. I've owned the Sleeks, Ety er4, Shure se530 and the Triple fi 10 amongst others in the past.
The IE8 are the best iem's i have had the pleasure to own, after a bit of burn in they sound unique, deep detailed bass and warm detailed mids and highs. The soundstage seems wider than other iem's, more like a full size headphone.
According to posters over at headfi, the Westone's may well be a tad more detailed in the highs but many prefer the sound of the IE8.

Have to agree with McCol, just received my pair of Senn IE8's and out of the box they sound great
Cant wait to hear what they sound like after they burnt in.

i would recommend bose triport in ear headphones.
exceptional sound quality.
they normally retail for £80 but some people are selling them under £30.

I still have the memories of the Sennheiser IE8 from the Bristol Show... never have I experienced expansiveness like it in an IEM
Anyway joining the IE8 and W3, we now have the UM3X: Company News :: Westone
It seems Westone are marketing W3 as consumer, UM3X as performer. But who cares about such distinctions? I would be very interested in the improvements over my UM2. If I ever had the chance for a 3-way showdown...

After having the E4c's, E500's and Triple.fi's, I got my set of W3's nearly two months ago and I wouldn't go back.
The bass is brilliant and the treble is far better than the Shure's and now that I've got my set of ACS custom sleeves to go with them, the isolation and fit is now perfect.
I looked at the IE8's, but the rolled off treble ruled them out for me and I'd very glad that I went with the Westone's.
