looking for wireless headphones

i have a 42" Sony Bravia 1080p Hi-def TV and the new Sony DVP-NS78 1080p DVD player. the sound and picture is superb when you combine those two but now im thinking of buying wireless headphones to "complement" what i have now and so as not to disturb my fussy neighbors. i have 2 questions:

1. how do u normally connect them wireless headphones? thru the TV's audio jack? or can you connect it thru the optical or caoxial output of your surround sound system?

2. what wireless headphones can you guys recommend? (if we consider surround sound capability, battery life, connectivity, performance, duarbilty, etc.)

my budget would be £50 and up to the £200 (max.) region.

Re: looking for wireless headphones

Go for the Sennheiser RS range. i brought a pair for my sister a few years ago, adn they were better than the Sony or panasonic rivals i tried.

as far as i remember, it has to be an audio jack., but don't quote me on that.

but for £200, maybe consider a pair of high end headphones, and the grado extention cable. just a thought!

Re: looking for wireless headphones

Agreed about the sennheiser - I'm no audiophile but they sound good to me. Have the 130's and they do exactly what it says on the tin. The connection is a standard 3.5 mil audio jack but it comes with a larger adaptor to plug into your amp.

I'm sure if you spend 200 quid then you can get better (saw some panasonic ones on the gadget show that got rave reviews) but for the price I'd thoroughly reccomend them.

Re: looking for wireless headphones

sennhiser RS-140's.
these are sennheiser's best wireless units.

They connect to your tv's heaphone socket.
They don't accept a digital signal so optical is useless.

very comfortable and excellent sound quality for a wireless unit.
They also come with 2 x rechargable AAA batteries.
The stand that the headphones sit on recharge the headphones when not in use.

sound-wise & durabilty...Sennheiser RS or would you look at Sony's range as well?
how about the battery life? do the RS NimH battery "drain" that much? how long does it normally takes you? (i know it sound silly to ask as i just plan to use it at an average 4-6 hours maximum long straight use).

Re: looking for wireless headphones

I'm interested too, but rather something a bit lighter which would also connect to MP3 players/mobile phones etc?

Any thoughts on the Sony DRBT21GB.CE?

I can't comment on other manufacturers models of headphones because I work for sennheiser and they are the only type of headphones I own.

just checked the box, it says operation time 23hours.
Also the units give you warning beeps to indicate low battery.

First time charge of 16hours and a couple of hours everytime after that.

i can also vouch for the RS140, produce very good sound, also has a virtual surround sound, and has a long wireless range. My receiver is in the attic,i can go and sit in the back garden without any breakup.

Thumbs up Re: looking for wireless headphones

My son, has a set of Sennheiser RS 120s which I was knocked out with.
They had very little interference, when moving from room to room between floors. They have a radio frequency sender unit. Of which you can chose between 3 settings for best pickup.

Just ordered a set of RS 140s for myself A fully enclosed earpiece with a separate volume control for L/R. Arriving Tuesday £79.95 delivered. Can't wait.
