Looking for a pair of headphones for Home Cinema System under £100

Hi everyone,

Just writing for some opinions / recommendations for a good pair of headphones for use with the home cinema system during the wee small hours to watch movies etc without waking up the house,

Not too fussed if they are cordless but comfy and good sound would be my 2 most important must have's

Thanks in advance,

Brian.

How far away will the other members of the household be as you may want to consider closed cans if they'll be pretty close?

I'll be in the living room and one of the bedrooms is directly above the other would bedroom would not hear me as there would be at the other end of the house and would have 3 closed doors in between,

thanks

Re: Looking for a pair of headphones for Home Cinema System under £100

I would have thought the Sennheiser HD595, as reevesy has mentioned, would be great for your needs.

I find my HD650s pretty comfy but prefer the fit of others, however, these would suite your needs and you can keep them on for a number of hours without any issues.

Some people do have issues with the grip on your head with new Senns, if you do go for them and encounter this issue just pop them on some books overnight so that the grip wont be so tight on your head- But make sure you don't over stretch them as then they wont grip your head too well.

I use the Sennheiser HD595 for films and TV too. Great sound and I soon forget I am wearing them - super compfy. I picked mine up from Richer Sound for around £90 about 6 months ago. You can get them a bit cheaper online but I was feeling impatient at the time.

I can't seem to find them cheaper than £100, if anyone knows of anywhere cheaper, please let me know! Amazon did have them for £90 last week, but now they are £99.

I've not checked to see how much delivery is but when I used them a few years ago I think they used Special Delivery.

Re: Looking for a pair of headphones for Home Cinema System under £100

forgive me, but the Denon AH-D1000's i think are better than the 595's. i do love the 595's but My Denon ah-d1000's ar my new love.

being a tad smaller than the Sennheisers, they are portable as well.

and if the site wasn't down at the moment i'd give you a link straight to the Denons.
just for reference, i got my pair form www.hifibitz.co.uk the free shipping won me over.

they are supurbly light, the sound has stunning clarity, and depth.

hands up the 595's are a good choice though.

They do look nice, it's on the Denon UK site here. However, personally I'm looking for a pair of open backed headphones rather than closed.

Re: Looking for a pair of headphones for Home Cinema System under £100

It all depends on what you are using for sound. For example, if I am watching a tv programme I never use my amp (therefore I'd connect the headphone to the TV). However if watching movies I tend to use the amp and will therefore connect it to the amp.

I don't believe the OP requires Noise Cancelling headphones and should be able to get a pair of cans which have better SQ IMO.

Triports are not the Noise canceling ones, your thinking of Quiet Comfort.

Personally not a bose fan but these are fanstastic IMO. Cheap enough from ebay aswell.

Re: Looking for a pair of headphones for Home Cinema System under £100

I've been looking for some 595s for a while, just haven't placed the order yet. A mate just bought some and loves them, he found this place here http://rebelio.co.uk/app/urwfilter/c...529/index.html selling them at £79

He went into richer sounds and got them pricematched so all inc for £79

I've just found someone selling them on amazon marketplace for £69.99 plus £4.50 delivery but they come from germany. They're under 'used' but the description is as follows:

'Item is new - EXHIBIT. Neutral packing. Please allow 3 days for delivery. 90.000+ pos. feedback on amazon (germany).'

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-lis...5661313&sr=8-1

Anyone know what neutral packaging is?
