Question about headphones

Im certain there are headphones that have this, but how do you use the white/red cables for your headphones.

Right now my setup is

[Satellite box] >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> [TV]
(red/white/yellow cables)

So is there a headphone or some sort of adapter to use those red/white cables for the headphone.

Re: Question about headphones

From your description I'd guess your talking about the composite video (yellow), audio right (red) and left (white) coming from your satellite box. In order to use this audio signal for your headphones you will first need to feed it into some sort of amplifier. At the most basic level many TVs have a headphone output, which would allow you to control the volume with your TV remote. Alternatively you could feed the signal into a spare input on your HiFi (anything except the phono would be fine). Finally you could buy a dedicated headphone amplifier, which would sit between your satellite box and headphones.

If you let us know which of these options seems most attractive I'm sure you'll get some more detailed information.

Re: Question about headphones

Well unfortunately my Panasonic TC-32LE70 does not have a headphone jack, that I can find. What would be my best choice, I will also be using the headphones for an xbox, which also uses the white/red for audio.

Nevermind, Im a liar, my tv does have a headphone jack, will this provide good sound quality?

Re: Question about headphones

I must admit that I'm not familiar with your particular TV so would suggest that you plug in your headphones and have a listen. The only thing I'm confident in saying is that it won't cost anything and will produce audio! I'd certainly be interested in how nice you think it sounds.
If your trying for the best quality sound then the other pieces of your setup will all play a factor, with a very basic satellite box and headphones I'd guess that spending a lot of money on a dedicated headphone amplifier will only bring modest improvements. Good kit however may warrant spending some money on an amp. If you want to use it for satellite & Xbox then it would be worth looking for an amp with multiple inputs so that you're not constantly switching wires about. The cost and quality of headphones amp varies hugely and I'm no expert so I'd suggest someone else offers advice here, there is also a sticky thread in this forum that can tell you a lot more.
A note for those who ask about headphones and amps
