Sub £35 Hi-Fi headphones

Hi, I am looking at upgrading to a decent pair of headphones - I currently have some HD201s which as you'll probably know don't compare to higher end models.

The Beyerdynamic DTX-800 seem to be the best within my price range, closely followed by the Sennheiser HD215s. I would love to hear people's opinions on them, they'll mostly be used on my computer through my amp so they don't need to be all that easy to power although it would be a bonus in case I want to use them where I don't have access to an amp.

Thanks for your help

Re: Sub £35 Hi-Fi headphones

i prefer the HD212's over the HD215's, for the simple reason, that the HD212's have more bass. some say the bass is overpowering, but i'd rather have it there when i want it. the HD215's are comfortable though.

i haven't tried the Beyers, but they look like a good buy.

if you want a big sound, with a bit of portability and foldability, then i can recommend the AKG K27i's. they thump like a pair of full size headphones. but they're not as comfortable as your choices.

Re: Sub £35 Hi-Fi headphones

Thanks, I'll read some reviews about the 212s but I'm not really a fan of the smaller headphones, I use in ear headphones (CX300s) when I'm out and prefer the larger ones for indoors

why don't you have a quick look at audiocubes.com i've ordered from them 3 times with no hitch, and there's a points reward scheme for future purchases.

Re: Sub £35 Hi-Fi headphones

I was looking there but the only ones I could find that appealed to me were the Audio-Technica ATH-A500 but they're over my budget at £50 delivered :| Shame as they seemed very good.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-H...4763562&sr=8-1

Sennheiser HD 555
Price: £46.98
(P&P is about £5)

Over budget I know, but I've seen these online for over £80 retail, so I thought it was quite a good buy.

See it as an investment

Re: Sub £35 Hi-Fi headphones

My preferred choice, I am currently selling some gear4 bluetooth headphones on the 'bay so depending on how they go I might be able to afford the HD555s

Re: Sub £35 Hi-Fi headphones

The Hd 515's might be within your buget and they are quite good. The hd-212 pros are not a small set of headphones and are very good in my opinion.
The interchangable cable is also a bonus on the hd 212 pros.

They arrived today, as you can see. Very pleased with them, they sound brilliant, build quality is good and they're incredibly comfortable. Happy I decided to spend a little more
