Poll - Are you Shure?

Do you have, or have you ever had, a Shure in-ear set of headphones, such as the E series? If so, what type of earphone sleeve do you (or did you) favour?

Soft black rubber for me. Not sure if that indicates anything strange . I'm allergic to all forms of foam things in the ear, even the sexy new "black olives".

Foamies - rubbish (kept falling out and didnt isolate)
Clear Silicone (w/E2) were fine.
Flexies - rubbish (treble was exagerated, isolation wasnt as good as silicone tips)

For my E4/SE420's and now SE530 - Triple Flange tips all the time w/the barrel cut-off.

I voted none of them as the Tri-Flanges are'nt listed in the Poll.

Re: Poll - Are you Shure?

Well. I've just given my E2Cs their baptism of fire in the gym. I went with the soft black rubber sleeves, which felt as though they gave the best seal. My greatest concern was they would fall out whilst thudding along the treadmill but in the event they stayed put. In fact, perhaps they were to well seated, because I had lots of 'internal' noise - heart thumping and feet pounding. When I tried to loosen them a bit I lost the isolation effect, and the bass. Anyone had similar problems?

Re: Poll - Are you Shure?

I've had a pair of E4C earphones for a while now & prefer to use Comply Canal tips which work best for me.

Re: Poll - Are you Shure?

Foamies for me but i think i will try out the new Shure black foam sleeves or Comply tips.

Clear plastic, black silicone offered poor isolation, triflange was far too microphonic.

Re: Poll - Are you Shure?

I used to go with the grey medium size ones, but found that they felt loose in the gym. Then went for the yellow foam ones. They look minging after a week (and yes, i do clean my ears, thanks ), but i found they did the best seal and were the best for staying in. You do have to squeeze them down quite small and ram them in straight away.

Re: Poll - Are you Shure?

they all fit me pretty well, which was very impressive as previous 'in ear' ones from koss and sony were rubbish for me. Using the large size i only have to fit them to the outside of the ear canal, with other ones i had to shove them right in for a seal.

The 'over the ear' design helps prevent the earphones getting pulled out too - shure's experience shows. The foam ones are effectively disposable as they collect ear wax very easily, and the flex ones are less comfy than the soft flex... so the soft flex it is!
