AKG 1000s might be worth a try,as I could easily run them off the Cary's speaker outlets,but still very happy with my own system right now,and not tempted to spend more elsewhere,having probably spent way too much on tubes and a rather large bit of wire last week.

How long shall we give it before the "best place to buy K1000" thread?

The K1000 are supposed to be exceptional. I've read quite a few people say they are 100% happy with them... Which is outstanding for any audio equiptment. Also they are abit of an investment as they are legendary and out of production...
