new shure headphones

Hi,

Does anyone know when the new Shure sound isolating headphones are out? My e3cs have gone kaput and I was tempted to buy a set of e4cs. Then I heard the new range is out soon so was thinking of holding off...however I don't want to wait too long and you can pick up some e4cs for about £150 these days.

Any thoughts? Worth holding out for?

Thanks,

Re: new shure headphones

Are you hinting at the E500 which have been out for a while?

Re: new shure headphones

Nope - there is a brand new range on its way:
http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/01...earphone_line/

"CES 2007 Shure has launched its latest line of pro-quality in-the-ear noise isolation earphones, pitching the range's superior sound reproduction and lower prices than its current E series line-up.

The SE range comprises four models: the SE210, SE310, SE420 and SE530, the latter offered in two forms, one with Shure's Push-to-Hear (PTH) control - press a button and it replaces the sound from your stereo with microphone-relayed audio from the world around you - and one without."

According to El Reg they are coming this way in March....

The E500 is the same as the SE530 - just re-marketing and model renumbering.

It also ships with the new, thicker black foamies. But yeah, otherwise, it's exactly the same in terms of the internals etc.

As for the rest of them, I'd wait. Once the reviews are out, you'll see how good/bad they are in comparison to the old ones. Depending on the reviews, your option will then be to buy the news ones if the reviews are positive, and if the reviews are negative or "these sound the same as the old ones" then you'll be able to pick up a bargain on some of the older range, safe in the knowledge that Joe Public needs to have the latest and greatest while you're able to buy the same/a better level of performance for half the price and spend the rest on CDs!
Either way, you win. I'd wait a little. Keep an eye on Head-Fi.org for the reviews.

Re: new shure headphones

Hi,

There is a review of the E420s here

http://www.trustedreviews.com/multim...-Headphones/p1

They seem to like them but not as much as the E500s.... and they do cost ~£270.

Re: new shure headphones

i read those reviews and did not find them that encouraging. Was almost going to plump for a set of e4cs but reading the reviews they were raving about the Ultimate Ears 5 Pros. So I went and tried them out, compared to the e4c and thought the UEs were better. So I bought a pair. Listening to them now and they are staggering.
