Headphone long cord options

I am going to invest in some nice cans so I can listen to music at my volume, ignore the bloods neighbours and watch films/play XBOX into the night. Im not really interested in wireless ones but sit about 4 to 5 metres away form the amp (got a big screen tv). most headphones cords are too short. my amp is an Arcam AVR 300 and has a standard headphone socket. what are my options? can I get an extension lead. where would i get one and will it have a detrimental effect on sound. what if I want a second pair of headphones . Ive seen all the overpriced "ipod" stuff including headphone splinters by belkin who seem to be cashing in on making things white. again will this affect sound quality etc.? any recommendations regarding splitters/ headphones and extension cables greatly appreciated.

Re: Headphone long cord options

Grado offer a 4.5metre headphone extension cable. I've seen it available for about £26 from various online supplier. Reviews of this I've seen regard it as good quality and doesn't lead to any reduction in quality ( unlike some cheaper bargain bin cables).

I thought I'd read somewhere that if you use a splitter cable then it would reduce the volume to each pair of headphones. But I'm sure one of the other members with more knowledge than me could confirm or disprove this.

Looks like a good, well made cable. Neutrik connectors need no introduction, and Van Damme cabling is very tough. Nice find.

Depends what you mean by good. Good in comparison to wired headphones 'No'. Good enough to watch TV (compared to standard TV )speaker 'Yes'. Good enough for background music while you do something else. 'Yes' Good enough for movies with high music content 'depends'. Good enough for serious listening to music 'No'

All my opinion based on my own requirements for quality

1/3 of the way down the page.
Again, it is van-damme microphone cable with Neutrik connectors
