In praise of Etymotic

Just got my Etymotic ER4Ps back from repair in the States, and I really cannot recommend Etymotic Research highly enough in terms of customer service. I'm about 4 months past the two year guarantee period, but they still very kindly repaired the broken earpiece at no cost. And of course, after slumming it for a couple of weeks, going back to proper phones is just a joy.

I've always wondered - what are the customs implications if something has to be returned to the USA for repair? Did they have to pay duty for receiving them or did you for getting them back? Also have you tried using the ETY's via a good headphone amp? My ER4P's are connected via a Xin SuperMacro which has a switch to convert the phones to ER4S's - this makes them sound in a different league altogether.

Re: In praise of Etymotic

I don't believe any excise was charged either way.

I have a 4P->4S conversion cable which I've used with the headphone socket on my Arcam Solo. Can't say it makes much of a difference.
