Don't read if you're eating your brekkie/lunch/dinner

My old Senn CX300s have served me well. I bought them about 8 months ago but in the last 2 months or so they have gone very noticeably quieter and in one ear bud there is barely any sound.

So I bought a new pair from Amazon for £18 delivered. Totally different. Much, much better. My question is why might this have happened to the original pair - is it possible they've got internally gunged up with earwax? (I did warn you). If so, can you clear them with some sort of solution? It might just be wear and tear...can anyone recommend a case? Have done a search on here but other than one guy suggesting a matchbox, there are no suggestions for after market products.

Just out of interest, why didn't you send/take them back? They have a 2 year warranty. At 8 months old, they shouldn't be failing. It should be obvious if ear wax is a problem as they have a wire mesh wax guard (at least, mine do).

I would send them back - in fact I have a ref number from Senn which I got when I reported the problem. I can't find my receipt though . Its about the only thing I can't find the receipt for...and just bought some new ones because they are so cheap now.

The mesh does not look blocked to me but its so fine its difficult to tell and who knows whats behind it....!

If you're already committed to replacing them, you could try removing the mesh - you've nothing to lose after all and you might get them working again as a spare set.
