'Burning In' ?

My new HD850's arrived today along with a used Creek OBH21. I thought the sound was quite good with the 'phones plugged straight into my NADC352, but then I figured out how to connect up the Creek and wow, what a difference! The bass isn't so 'boomy' and there is a clarity there that is quite remarkable, I'm hearing things for the first time - my 'Road To Damascus' moment........

I have also read in many threads that headphones need to 'burned in' before the best is heard from them, do you just leave leave them connected to your tuner for a couple of days?
Thanks,
Roob

Re: Connecting Creek OBH21 to NADC352 Amp & 'Burning In' ?

Yeah, just play it 24/7 with music

I'm trying the latest head-fi thing of pink noise

If it works, it works. Doesn't help to try

Re: Connecting Creek OBH21 to NADC352 Amp & 'Burning In' ?

Been doing some research on burning in and it seems there is a pro & con lobby, even for HD580's.
Administrator, please feel free to pull this thread.
Thanks to everyone for helping me over the past few days,
Roob

Re: Connecting Creek OBH21 to NADC352 Amp & 'Burning In' ?

Most things such as phones and amps DO improve slowly over a few days of use,up to their best level, and some benefit from being left on,although it's usually not necessary.

Hope you continue to enjoy them.
