Question Wired headphones to use with SE-Dir2000C Dolby headphone amp?

My endless problems with the Pioneer SE-Dir2000C Dolby headphones have no end so I am looking for a set of wired heapdones to use with this instead of the the supplied wireless ones and any help, suggestions or experience with this or the Philips alternative and wired headphones would be much appreciated so I can once and for all watch films in peace.

Particularly I would like to know if I would get a good performance just plugging the headphones into the base unit or if I would need an additional headphone amp to boost the sound, and what headphones would work well?

I have a budget of around £100 for the headphones but could go slightly higher and may have more in the future for a possile amp. I use the headphones almost exclusively for TV and Film viewing and leakage does not matter as it is people sleeping in other rooms that I don't want to disturb.

I have looked at the Sennheiser HD595's which looked good but some complained the bass wasn't enough which could be a problem with films. The Sennheiser HD600's or 650's look great but ar a lot more and would this extra be justified and would they require an additional amp?

I'm quite new to this headphone game so any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

Thank you very much,

Bob

Hi Bob,

Where did you buy from? If audioccubes - they should replace without probs as the CS is excellent - I have had the SE-DIR2000C's for nearly two years and have used them consistently without any probs whatsoever - you should not have to go to the expense of a new wired headset..
