Thanks: Gave 47, Got 33 | Headphones urgently needed, any deals/recommendations? (approx. £30 budget)
Basically ive just totally fo0ked my Dads headphones somehow, I went to use them and *BAM* the sound was really weird. So I opened them up (professionally...... XD) and tried to fix the problem, however, it appears that ive managed to fo0k them up even more, so, id say they're a write-off.
The big kick in the nuts with this is;
* Its only me that ever uses them
* I was the last person to use them in working condition (everything was fine though)
* I need to replace them before my Dad finds out (that way maybe he wont kill me.....)
* My Mum bought them for my Dad a few Christmasses ago and paid about £50 for them
* I dont think you can get this model anymore
* Im skint, I only have £32 to my name (assuming eBay doesnt take £10 out of my bank)
So the upshot is im gonna have to replace them, but with what? I fancy getting him a wireless fancy pair but for a decent pair they're quite expensive. Although, it is me who'll be the one using them most of the time..... Also, it is worth noting my Dad is a bit of a technophobe, that isnt to say he wouldnt appreciate a wireless pair its just that in his eyes Sony are top dog, even though Sennheiser appear to have the rep. for headphones.
So, has anyone seen any good deals? Or can anyone recommend a pair? Im looking to spend up to £30
Cheers, fu510n

Sennhesier PX100
Sennhesier HD205
Are two frequently mention budget models over on head-fi. The PX100 are open and lightweight foldable design though. I have them and find them quite fun and enjoyable for the price with their smooth mids. But your dad may prefer the design on the 205s more...
You couldn't just tell him? Use it as an excuse for him to upgrade (if he wants to that is lol). I feel guilty advising you when you're skint. What kind of music does he listen to?

What kind of music does he listen to? | Id rather be able to offer him the new ones as i tell him, if i tell him beforehand he'll be p!ssed off and will probably insist i dont replace them as im so skint. However, it will become a bone of contention between us and its hard for me to avoid p!ssing him off most days anyway.
The thing is, he very very very rarely uses them, its usually me.
Im looking for a deal like the one Play.com had on offer up until today (oh the irony has tormented me all day). Heres a link. They were down to £29.99 (i think it was in the sale), but, now they've gone |

If SQ is a concern, I wouldn't get wireless. Can't rely on the signal, interference and no guarantees in that respect like the good ol' cable. Saying that, if you think your dad isn't one to fuss like that, then wireless may be the way to go. You could try the search function, as I've only ever head one Philips model for wireless, and they were rubbish

You could try the search function, as I've only ever head one Philips model for wireless, and they were rubbish | Ive looked everywhere and for a seemingly decent pair its £30+. The thing is, i have no idea what a decent pair is. Hence the topic here . Id never even considered the reception quality of wireless, i figured that it would be perfect if i bought a Sony or Sennheiser pair. The thing is, as the world is going wireless now and its so much more converniant i just want to jump on the bandwagon. No more cables trailing across the floor etc.
If quality is going to be at risk then i guess a wired pair would be best...

Best to stick with a wired pair, is £30 still your budget?

But as i found a great pair of wired Sony Headphones for just £18 i dont fancy spending much more if they're gonna be wired tbh |

Which model have you found for £18?
I was going to suggest the Sennheiser HD 515 which can be had for around £46.

OK, ive found these at Amazon, however they say "replacement" headphone. What exactly do they mean by this?
Also, are they any good?

It would seem it's a wireless replacement headphone and you would need a compatible receiver to use it.
