Best in ear phones, not ear canal style!

Hi there

I am interested in finding out the best in ear headphones that are not the ear canal type. I've tried them and I really don't like them, and the feeling of not being able to hear anything outside of the music is weird. I am using some Sennheiser MX450's which are good but lack bass and some warmth. My other ones are actually ones that came with an old Roberts pocket radio which are possibly the best sounding ones I've ever had, but they are the sort of headphones where the output level isn't too high and it means turning up my MP3 player and draining the battery quicker.

I am prepared to pay up to £50 for these so appreciate any tips. I heard that AKG ones are good but I've never really read anything about them.

Chris

Ah yes, earbuds.

Un, deux et trois

I myself have some Senn MX500s I bought from Argos for £15. At that price they're surprisingly "fun". My views don't really differ from link two, so...

Its claimed these are worth about £40. No doubt they cost no where near that to manufacture... I personally wouldn't pay more for than £20 for earbuds, but that's me. Says I who spends £400 on IEMs and an amp

I am a parrot. Go for the Audio Technica EC7 (better) or the Sony 31's can be brought from Amazon (not to be confused with the ex71/81) can be had from Argos for under £18 (as the 21's)
