budget multi-purpose headphones?

Hello, I'm looking to purchase a pair of full-size heaphones for £30 or less. I need them mainly for connecting to my television, although it would be a bonus if I could get a decent performance out of them on other devices. The cable has to be at least 3 metres length and they have to block out as much background sound as possible whilst still being comfortable for prolonged use. Could anyone recommend me something for my needs?

I would recommend the Sennheiser HD-201 at about half your budget. Closed headphones so do a reasonable job at blocking out external noise. Quite comfortable without excessive clamping force on your head.

Wow, those Sennheiser HD-201 look good. Amazon is selling them at a very cheap price of around £10, http://************/y3sg6u Do you think I should get ones closer to £30 instead though? I have narrowed down the alternatives to:

Sennheiser HD212 pro http://************/yjf548 £26.95
Technics RPF350 http://************/y6xrf3 £29.99
Technics RPF200 http://************/ylhjug £19.99
Sony MDRXD100 HIFI http://************/tjmht £11.10

Are these any better or are the Sennheier HD-201's the best of the under £30 price band?

Well I think the HD-201s are fine for your needs and can't be beaten for the price. The only way to be sure is to be able to go somwhere that has stock of all the phones that you are interested in and try them out yourself as it comes down to personal preference. Unfortunately such places are few and far between.

Yeah your right but I hardly ever buy things from the shops nowadays, just too damn expensive and very limited selection. Anyone who has experience with the headphones I listed above please feel free to tell me about them. The HD-201s are only around £10 so I'm wondering whether I can get better for under £30.
