beat Sennheiser HD25?

Hi

I currently have some sennheiser hd25sp's which I have found to brilliant but are now wearing a little old and it feels like a time for a replacement set

been looking at the hd25's as my sp's have been very good, plus i like the option to replace parts with the 25's

is there something else in that price bracket 75 - 140 that look preferable ? ideally closed backs and would consider noise cancelling if the quality is superior (maybe pxc300's ?)

ta

Re: beat Sennheiser HD25?

The DR150 are not closed, they also need very careful matching as i found out to my cost - dont pair with bright systems, the result will be a cold, somewhat rough sound. They will be capable headphones on a warm system though.

In fact i found those better on an ipod than i did on my main system, which was odd...

The DT770 are fairly unique animals. Very, very bassy, great fun for dance and trance music, or in fact any genre that requires lots of bass. Somewhat recessed mids, but these are quality phones that will scale well to higher end systems... best used on a slightly bass light system i feel or it could be overwhelming.

You dont say what you'll be driving them with... but there is / was some 80 ohm DT770's if you are using, say, a soundcard or ipod.

Re: beat Sennheiser HD25?

I have the HD25s and use the SPs a lot too. The HD25s are significantly better, its not a slight difference. Don't know if this helps with your decision.

They of course run off any headphone output a treat too (in fact, straight off my laptop sounds fantastic), and are a lot better built than the SPs (my pair has taken at least 7 years of proper on-the-road abuse and still looks and feels brand new).

Recommended from me absolutely.

Re: beat Sennheiser HD25?

my sp's have lasted well and I shall have them as a backup

re amps - I have now bought the dt770 pro 80ohm's will I be able to drive them from my computer ok?

any risks with driving them from the computer?

I was thinking the pa2v2 might be good to drive the headphones and not stress my pc - am i worrying about nothing ?

Re: beat Sennheiser HD25?

Tell me how you get on with those Beyerdynamic DT770 pros. I am seriously considering buying a pair for listening to music (heavy metal mainly), also using on the PC system connected to the headphone socket of Creative T7900 speakers and using them for watching movies and playing games on the TV.

What do you think of them???
