My CX300's have caused more trouble than they are worth!

Well around the 5th of august 2006 I went to Hughes Electrical in town and purchased some Sennhesier CX300 earphones which retail at £40. Anyway I had a months of good and great use of them until around the 10th Of september I lost one of the earbuds which you require to need to put the earphone in your ear (the little rubber bit basically). And so I sent an email to sennhesier asking where I get one. After 2 weeks!!!!! They finally responded with "ask Hughes" so I went in there and asked etc. etc. They told me they sent an email etc but it could take up to a few days for them to respond.....2 weeks later they responded and sent the earbuds. Then finally a week later 2 stupid bits of rubber arrived which they charged me £5 for. In total my CX300's had been out of use for 5 weeks. So i had been using apple's crap earphones for 5 weeks even though i had some great CX300's sitting on my shelf not in use because of a stupid bit of rubber. Anyway I picked up the earbuds yesturday fitted them on to find.....One of the earphones had stopped working (left one) all that comes out is a quiet distorted mess......So i had waited 5 weeks to find out that they didnt even work.

I have now realised that I have lost my receipt too. I think they put my purchase on the computer but I honestly can't remember. One thing is for sure I AM NOT paying to have them repaired. I shouldnt have even paid for the little earbuds because they shouldnt have come off in the first place.

What do I do??

DD

Re: My CX300's have caused more trouble than they are worth!

The removable portion of the earbud are obviously designed to be removable(both to allow fitting to ear canals of different size, and for cleaning),and thus you probably have no recourse there at all.

I also have earbuds with removable covers(such as the Etymotics, and Sennheisers) and if I lose a cover, like anyone else,I simply have to pay for a replacement.

As to one side now distorting....if the damage is due to failure in manufacture, then you should be able to claim a replacement under warranty, but if due to excess levels, then again, you would have no recourse.

If you paid online, then there will be a record of the purchase date.

I realise that you are possibly past it as far as CX300s are concerned but FWIW I think I read somewhere that the rubber bits on certain Sony headphones are identical to those on the Sennheisers.

I have never over driven my CX300's. It sounds to me one has blown because it is extremly quiet and all that comes out is treble. I have no occurance of how this has happened! It appears it has literally (as one might say stupid) done it itself.

The best you can do is take the offending item back to the shop you got them from with as much prrof of purchase as you can find, and see if they will honour the guarantee.
Failing that, although they may have been slow in replying,Sennheiser UK have good record of customer support from what's been said here previously.

Re: My CX300's have caused more trouble than they are worth!

well, just got back from listening to them on my ipod, ala a bit of Kid A - Idioteque. OMG!!!! these headphones are most definately the real deal, they sound absolutely amazing & straight from the off aswell! & they're sooo comfortable with the standard fitted buds. I keep swapping between the original ipod headphones & these just to hear the difference. I can't believe I've put up with the standard ones for so long. Honestly anyone with an ipod reading this should definately replace now. The piano black ones would even go with the black ipods. nice. I've done a bit of digging on the two blacks seemingly kicking around & on visting the US Amazon site there are real user pictures definately showing a black matt pair. These I have are the gloss black, maybe for the european market? Who knows, who cares they still look sweet but sound sooo much better!!! well happy!!

I initially brought a set from DolphinMusic (with Matt Black finish). The driver failed and these were RMA'd to Senn UK, they replaced them with Gloss backs (excellent service from both DolphinMusic and SennUK).

I dont think either pairs were fakes as dolphinmusic would have brought stock from Senn. UK (one assumes). Also Senn. Uk would have reported back to me upon receiving my Matt Black CX300's that they were fakes - they didnt, so its safe to assume both versions are fine.
