Best closed back headphones for £100??

Hi, Can anyone suggest a good pair of closed back headphones for listening to music, games and watching TV? I would prefer them to have a lead (not cordless) and the lead would ideally be about 3m long.

I listen to metal music mainly, but also like classical guitar, so it would need to be good across the board. I good mid-range would be good.

My budget max is about £100. I have shortlisted the Seenhieser 280Pro, do anyone reccommend these??

Beyerdynamic DT770 IMO.

I've heard that the HD280 lacks bass. That really cant be a good thing for games and movies, even if you do like music to have no bass

I really liked the Senn HD280 Pro's when I heard them. Whilst it's probably true that they don't have massive outright extension (they are closed back after all), they have some of the most detailed and controlled bass that I've come across.

Re: Best closed back headphones for £100??

Thanks for the replies. I guess it comes down to personal preference. The problem is I am not sure which ones I would like until I demo them in a shop perhaps. I have searched the forums and the general concenus is that:

Senn HD280Pro - lack bass but are well balanced.

Beyer DT770 - very heavy bass and good treble at expense of mid-range.

Beyer DT595 - "better" than DT770, with more balance.

It is a huge choice. I would use the headphones for watching movies (in particular horror film at times when my wife is in the same room as she doesn't like horror), listening to heavy metal music, and playing noisy shooting games on the PS2 (I have a 11 month old son).
I like the idea of the strong bass of the DT770s, but I don't want a muddy and unclear sound.

Re: Best closed back headphones for £100??

The 280pro's dont seem to lack bass to me, while they did seem a little dull at first, they opened up after considereable run in and now sound exellent for closed backers. ( possibly even better than my Grado SR-60's) (depends tho)
Awesome volume/detail and bass.

Got mine from a amazon seller (new) for bout £60
Great stuff.

please get your facts right.

As I’ve expressed a few times although the sound was clear the bass was recessed. Plus the fact that after three months the headband had cracks and stress fractures, so they went back to the shop.

Like I said the worst pair of Sennheiser headphone I’ve ever had. FACT!! not
